this is part of my portal series, from the spacey bust group, and also part of the littles collection. the form hints at a head or small figure, but more as a symbol of presence than a portrait. if you look at the hole, you’ll notice a soft film across it. to me, it suggests the veil between the mundane and the abstract—a quiet threshold. these pieces are inspired by the dreamy realm kids enter while playing with miniature worlds. though small, they feel expansive. they are meant to bring you into stillness, and from that stillness, offer passage into something deeper and unknown. carved from a single piece of crocodile wood.
