this is part of my portal series, from the spacey bust group, shaped through the hard soft geometric language. the top hints at a head or figure, but it's more of a vessel than a portrait, while the geometric base explores the tension between geometric structure and soft curved planes. this piece continues that search for balance between the two. the balance feels like masculine and feminine energies, not in opposition, but in harmony. if you look at the hole, you'll notice a soft film across it. to me, it suggests the veil between the mundane and the abstract. this piece was made to ground and center you, then transport you into the unknown from that place. carved from a single piece of monkey pod wood.
